Pillow Talk

Emma has never been known for being a great (or even a good) sleeper. Most nights she is up at some point and wants me to come and lay down with her in her bed. Usually, just about the time I have almost fallen asleep again, she will want to talk. And she usually wants to talk about God. Here is a sampling of our conversations:

Emma: Is it raining?
Mommy: Yes.
Emma: God is watering the flowers.
Mommy: Yes.
Emma: Is God going to take a shower too?
Mommy: Not right now, God is just watering the trees, grass, and flowers.
Emma: I don't want the trees to get wet.
Mommy: Sorry honey, but God needs the trees to grow too.
Emma: No
At this point I try to change the subject.....

Emma: Where is God?
Mommy: God is everywhere.
Emma: Everywhere?
Mommy: Yes.
Emma: Is God in here?
Mommy: Yes, God is in here.
Emma: Is God in the tress?
Mommy: Yes.
Emma: Is God with Daddy?
Mommy: Yes.
Emma: But where is God's house?
Mommy: In heaven.
Emma: Where is heaven.
Mommy: Up high in the sky.
Emma: God has airplane. Can I go on the airplane?

Emma: Does God have a car?
Mommy: No honey.
Emma: Oh.............his car broke. So he has a truck.

Emma: What color is his truck?
Mommy: I don't know. What color do you think it is.
Emma: Red.

The other night when it was thundering, Emma woke up, looked at me and said:
Mommy, can you tell God to shush. I is sleeping. He can play after he turns on the lights.

And just so you know, Emma saw the angels again last weekend outside our living room window. She was playing just before dark (when God turns out the lights) and she tells us that the angels are there. I asked here where they were and she points to the window and says they are outside. When Steven asked her what they were doing, she looked back at the window and just stood there. Then she told him they were flying away. "Bye Angels, I love you".

After she informed me that one morning back in June that the angels were in our bedroom, she mentioned them a couple of times after that but if we asked her if they were still there, she would tell us no. I have to say, I felt pretty good knowing that the angels had come back for a visit and that my girl was blessed to see them.

There are many more little conversations like this that I have had with her in the middle of the night. I really should write them down. But I just can't make myself get up at 3:00 a.m. to go look for a pen and paper!

Well, we have another busy weekend planned. We are supposed to attend a party at Steven's Regional Manager's house. Not something I am really looking forward to and would love to find a way to get out of it. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Stay cool!

I love the coversations, maybe you need to start recording them, just keep a hand held recorder by her bed. I hope you have a enjoyable weekend, make the best of it, even if it is a busy one.

Your daughter is a good theologian, but still, I don't think she had the authority to tell Him to stop watering the trees.

Even at a young age it's difficult to believe that God knows best.

I went private on my blog a while back and then went public for a few months after. I am returning to private and want to let you know so that you could send me your email address if you want an invite. If you are already on the list or have recently given me your email just disregard this. I am posting this comment on everyones page. I just don't want anyone to be left out. Have a great day!

That is so sweet. I sure hope I can have converstaions like that with Josey when she gets older...I would prefer not at 3am, but just the fact that she knows and loves God so much is a blessing. And the angels, too cute.

Have a great week.

Emma is so funny and smart. It's just the beginning. Once they start with all the questions it seems to never stop. I miss you my friend hope to see you soon.
