The sweetest sound

Yesterday was one of those incredibly long days where nothing seems to work right and you really think it is Friday only to discover that it is only Wednesday. Ever have one of those????

Anyway, after work I went to pick Emma up from school and we went straight home. I set her up to watch Cinderella for the 112th time and I went to lie down......yes, lie down! I had been feeling like I was going to get sick for a few days and yesterday my body lost the fight and I now feel like a massive Mac truck has just run over me. So, I finally get myself up to fix Emma some dinner, Steven gets home, discovers that he has inadvertently thrown away the new auto insurance cards, has to leave to go switch vehicles with his Dad and go back to the office. I on the other hand really, really want to go back to bed. But Emma has to finish eating and she needs a bath. I do convince her that it would be great fun to just take a really quick shower and get her jammies on (I couldn't believe she fell for this - she LOVES taking a very long hot bubble bath). After she was all nice and squeaky clean and had her 'pink, princess jammie dress' on, I took her back into the bathroom to comb and dry her hair. She was sitting on the bathroom counter with her feet in the sink and putting on her lipstick (chapstick) while I was running the blow dryer through her hair as fast as I could. I could tell she was talking but with the blow dryer running, I really couldn't hear her all that well. I shut it off and discovered she wasn't talking, but was singing "Jesus loves ME, this I KNOW, for the Bible tells ME so...." She was very emphatic about it. It was so cute and I thought very sweet to hear my baby (ok, so she is not really a baby anymore) singing 'Jesus Loves Me'. So needless to say, since she once again stole my heart, I let her stay up an extra 30 minutes cuddling with me on the couch. I was very glad that I hadn't been able to go back to bed. I wouldn't have wanted to miss that moment for anything.

How sweet! Isn't it gratifying to find out that what you've been trying to teach them their entire lives is really sinking in?!

I think that same Mack truck came through our house this week. Did it destroy rooms? What a sweet post--I especially love the Chapstick part. Emma is a girl after my own heart--I love lip anything =).
