Rest in peace sweet Patches

Patches passed away last night around 10:30 p.m. She had been really sick for a couple of weeks and I knew that it was just a matter of time. I was amazed at how much it hurt to let her go. She was a part of our little family and she will be missed.
We had been talking to Emma the past week about Patches being very sick and not being with us anymore. Last night since Emma was already asleep, we wrapped Patches up and put her in a box. This morning we got the box and got Emma and explained to her as best we could that Patches had died and was no longer sick or in pain. We gave her the opportunity to say goodbye. While it was hard for her to understand and hard for me to see her pet Patches and ask her to get up I am glad we did it this way. I know that there will be more questions over the next few days but it is a difficult concept for a little on to understand.

I'm so sorry! I know that sweet dog will be missed!
Awww, I'm so sorry!!! I was devastated when my childhood dog had to be put to sleep a few years back. They really are members of the family!!
Sorry for the loss of patches. I know how much you loved her. Just remember all of the good times you had with her.
I'm at home again today. Zoe's stomach bug has decided to befriend Cassidy and I in the middle of the night.
I'm sorry to hear about your dog. She was adorable.
As for the baby talk- we have decided to wait until July to reevaluate and decide. To get pregnant now would mean a Dec/ Jan newborn. Did that with Isaiah and that was miserable. If we get preg in Aug, that would be a May/ June baby. The kids would be out of school... blah blah blah. Plus we really want to get finances in order and that stuff. We've waited this long between kids, I don't think a few more months will be too bad. I just hope we don't change our minds. I think the idea is growing on me!
Oh my goodness. I almost cried when I read this. I am so not ready to every see a pet pass on. I definitely am worried about how we'll handle it for Elena's sake.
What a sweet photo of your Emma and Patches. What a blessing it is to have wonderful photos to help us "hold on" to the people and pets that have died.
