The Great Pumpkin

This year since Emmaline was with us when we got her costume, we had to do things a little different.  She LOVES to dress up and we knew that she would have her costume worn out by the time Halloween rolled around.  So...........after Emmaline went to sleep the night we bought her costume, the Great Pumpkin came and took it to the pumpkin patch to keep it until it was time for Halloween.

Last night while Emma was asleep, the Great Pumpkin came to visit and left her some presents.  Emma got up before us (as usual) and found them in the living room.  She dug into the gift bag and found the new Tinkerbell movie.  I was just getting in the shower when I hear this little voice going "Daddy, look what I have.  I have to watch it NOW!"  Tinkerbell 1So she got to watch her new first thing this morning and we let her open her other present, which was her costume.  She was so very happy today.Tinkerbell 2

Excuse the bad pictures.  I wasn't expecting the Great Pumpkin to come until this afternoon, so I had left my camera at work.  I took these with my cell phone.

You know it is getting cold when...

Patches Coat

You have to put a parka on your 5 pound Chihuahua so she will go outside and do her business.

But I do have to say...Patches does sport it well :-)

What a wonderful day it was...

I had intended to have these pictures posted last week, but I got a little sidelined with a stomach bug.

I used to always help Steven out in the yard, until October 30, 2004.  I was about 5 months pregnant and had been outside helping get all the leaves up and into the burn pile.  I had been using the leaf blower and it ran out of gas.  Steven came and filled it back up for me and went to pull the cord to start it up again.  Let's just say that his hand popped off the cord and ended up in my belly.  It wasn't pretty.  By the time we got home from the hospital around midnight (I was fine and the baby was fine), I told him that I wasn't going to be working out in the yard anymore.  Fast forward to the next fall..........well...........I had a baby in the house to take care of, so I didn't help him that year either.  In fact, I had not helped him outside with the leaves since the day he "punched" me.  So I promised him I would help him this year.

He went out early and got started.  I did a few things in the house and then got us both dressed to go outside.  Emma got her rake and helped.  DSC_0294She was so excited.   She had the best time jumping in the leaves.  The look of pure joy and happiness  on her face was priceless.   DSC_0278 DSC_0303DSC_0283DSC_0323I raked and toted leaves to the burn pile till my hands were almost raw, so then I took over the leaf blower. (I made sure to stand far, far away from him this time :-) )  All was going well till it ran out of gas.  He filled it up and it worked for, oh maybe 10 minutes....then died.  We were almost done!  So my ever not so handy husband decided to try and fix it.  It took him a while and he had it in many pieces...........but he got it fixed and was able to finish the yard.   DSC_0336

I thought it was October

DSC_0329

When we were working out in the yard last weekend I came around the end of our house and discovered that our almost dead azalea was a little confused. It seemed to think it was April :-) But it sure was pretty!

I have more pictures to post from the weekend, but they will have to wait for another day! Hope everyone is having a great week so far.

Sing and Be Happy

Emma is growing up so fast and wanting to do everything we do. Tonight, once we started singing, she got up, got her a songbook, asked me to find the 'singing page' (meaning the song we were currently singing) and she climbed up next to Grandma and acted like she was reading and singing along. It was too sweet. And yes, we took this picture during church with Steven's cell phone. And no, I don't usually take pictures during church, but it was really so sweet and it was a memory that I wanted to keep and remember.

Then in comes my wonderful husband, who knows how much I love me a good hot cup of something from Starbucks.  So even though I didn't need it, I am sooooo enjoying it!

Thank you Honey!!!  I love you!

Family Reunion

The day after Emma and I returned from Oklahoma we went to a family reunion for Steven's grandmothers family on his fathers side (does that make any sense to you?). We got up before the sun was up, got ourselves all dolled up and drove down to Columbia, TN to attend services at the little country church where my FIL went growing up. After church the reunion was held down the road at the Locust Grove Bed & Breakfast. This home had once been a family home and is beautiful. Emmaline with Grandma & Grandpa
These are some of my FIL's cousins.
This is Emmaline and Emma. They are second cousins (or third...I really couldn't keep it all stright). Once Emmaline met her, she became Emma's shadow. And would you believe that she is twice Emmalines age (she is about to turn 7 in just a few weeks). It made me realize once again just how tall my daughter is. It won't be long and she will be looking me in the eye and then faster than I can blink, she will be looking her Daddy in the eye!
The gardens around the house were beautiful.
After the reunion was over we went back to some realtives house. Once I was able to convince Emmaline that she needed to sit on my lap and let me read to her she conked out. And of course, that was when they decided to do some group pictures :-)

Even though I was really tired from having just gotten home, only to turn around and get up early and spend a few hours in the car getting there, it was a wonderful day.

She must taste yummy

This week has been brutal on my poor girl. She got bit at school.....not once.....twice! The first time was Tuesday and I was told that she hit another girl and then got bit in retaliation. But when I asked Emma, she first told me who bit her (which was her buddie Tori), and when I asked her why she hit Tori, she tells me she didn't hit Tori, but "Tori made Kendal fall down and Kendal got hurt in her face so Tori not nice". I wasn't really sure what all that meant or what actually happened, but I could never find a bite mark, so I kinda wrote the whole thing off.

Then I get a phone call yesterday afternoon to let me know that Emma had been bit and it had broken the skin. I could hear her crying in the background. So, being the nervous nellie mommy that I am, I rushed over there to get her while trying to get a hold of the doctor along the way. By the time I got there she had stopped crying, they had gotten her cleaned up and she was outside. But as soon as she saw me, she started to cry again. It nearly broke my heart. She got bit on her shoulder blade....through her shirt......and there were four distinct gashes from teeth!!!! I took Emma into the other room to wash her hands and I asked her who bit her....."Tori". I was shocked! They were supposed to be little BFF's. What was going on?!?!? I went back out to talk to the teacher and she told me that they were playing in the playhouse and she heard Emma holler out "NO!" and turned in time to see Emma being shoved out onto the ground and then 'the other child' pounced on her and bit her before she even had time to get over there to stop it. She thought they were fighting over 'ownership' of the playhouse, but since she wasn't right there I don't think anyone really knows what happened.

Emma and I left and she was pitiful for a while. It hurt to move her arm because it would stretch the skin around the bite and it hurt to sit back in her car seat. So needless to say, I then became 'pushover mommy'. Pretty much, whatever she wanted (within reason) I gave her :-) Then when I was bathing her last night I noticed a bruise on her leg, just above her knee. It was oval shaped and only bruised around the edges.............yup.........it was the bite mark from Tuesday. So she did get bit. Twice. In one week. From the same child. Now when you ask Emma about Tori, she says that they are not friends, that Tori is naughty and needs to be in time out. It makes me sad. I haven't taken pictures of any of her bites so far. I just haven't had the heart to do it. But someone told me that I probably should in case anything comes of it later (since they were both from the same child).

She is at Grandma's today, so hopefully she is having a better day. And I certainly pray that next week is a little less eventful.

Have a good week-end!!!

Good times

***Warning***
We made it home late last night and I am having a hard time deciding which pictures to post. So beware....this could be a long one :-)
As soon as we got on the airplane, Emma got out the magazines, opened up the tray table and started to 'read'. She was sooooo proud of herself. The only picture of Emma and I together from the weekend. And I took it myself...
Watching the big screen TV in the children's lounge in the Admiral's Club.
THANK YOU PAPA!!!
My mom, with her cup of tea (she never drinks coffee) while we are waiting until our next flight. My daddy, as usual on the phone. But I will give him credit this time....it was my phone and it was my husband he was talking too :-)
Heading off for our next flight with Mimi and Papa.
We have arrived in Tulsa and Emma decided that she had to pull her suitcase along just like the rest of us. I have to say, I am glad that she waited until now, because while it was really cute, she was reeeaaallllyyy sllllooooowwww!
Emma saying hi to Great Granny. She was almost as excited to see Great Granny as Great Granny was to see her. It was pretty sweet!
Emma and Great Granny cuddling. I just loved that she did this right after we walked in!One of the things I did to keep Emmaline occupied while we were in the hotel was play DVD's on my mother's laptop. She loved it and was amazed that Mimi's computer had her movies 'in it' ! She even got a little upset when I took the laptop back to my mom - Emma thought that Mimi was going to leave with her movies.
Emma sitting and watching one of her movies while playing with her princess dominoes.
Emma jumping on the bed in the hotel room. And before anyone asks me....no, I do not usually let her jump on beds. But she was just so funny, that I had to get the camera and take some pictures before I made her stop :-0
Emmaline after she was done jumping on the bed :-)
Emma got outside in the courtyard at Great Granny's and was overcome with all the wide open space and felt the need to do a little dance...

All pooped out after dancing around the courtyard.
Four Generations. What a blessing!
Papa and his favorite little girl.
My Mom and GrandmaColoring with Mimi while visiting at Great Granny's

Playing with Papa at Great Granny's Saying good bye to Great Aunt Linda.
This is Linda's husband Lawrence. He and Emma hit it off and she gave him BIG hugs when we left.
Heading back to our car with Daddy when he got to the airport to pick us up. She sure was glad to see him after 4 days.
We ended up stopping and getting some dinner before we headed on home. It was so good to sleep in my own bed and have Emma sleep in hers (at least for part of the night!). I think this is the longest post I have ever done. And if you stayed with me long enough to read this....THANK YOU!! We went to TN today for a family reunion so I have more pictures to post, but it will be a few days before I get around to it. Have a great week everyone!

Sweet Memories

I have taken a ton of pictures already, but I just wanted to post a couple real quick before I went to sleep.

This is my grandma and my daughter. Emma told everyone yesterday that she was going to the airport to go and see her Great Granny. It was late yesterday evening before we finally arrived, but we came in her room and she went straight to her and wanted to get in her lap. It melted my heart to see my 93 year old Grandma with my 3 year old daughter. What a wonderful blessing for me to have this memory.
This was just a couple of hours ago. Last night, Emmaline just would not go to sleep. She fussed and cried and fought and finally around midnight she crashed only to wake up before six. Needless to say, she took an early and long nap. We managed to keep her pretty busy the rest of the day and she finally asked to go to bed. She tossed and turned for a bit and ended up on the opposite side of the king size bed (not to mention she is upside down. I just couldn't resist taking a picture of her. :-)
We are here for a couple more days, then we will be flying home.
Hope everyone is having a good week.
