The Pictures Are Up

Emma's pictures are online....

Wes Davis Photo .........when the page comes up, click on the client viewing button and enter 'emmaline' as the password.  This pop up window is considered a "scripted" window and you may have to click the yellow bar that appears at the top to allow it.  At least that is what I had to do on my computer.

There are some really good shots of her  - some of them just cracked me up because of the expressions on her face.  Let me know which one(s) you like.

Valerie, you were right - the white dress worked out just fine with the white background - especially with the yellow flowers.

My Girl

Emma loves to wear dresses.  She would wear one everyday if she could.  Unfortunately, she is pretty rough on her clothes at school, so she usually only gets to wear them on week-ends, mainly just on Sundays for church.  This past Sunday, once we got to Grandma's house, she wanted to outside so "Mommy take picture".  Of course I was happy to oblige.  If only she cooperated better............

This morning on the way to school, Emma was eating in the car.  Nothing unusual about that.  She usually will take a piece of fruit or a couple of times a week, I will let her eat little powdered donuts (dodos) or a pop tart.  This morning it was her dodos.  We had been in the car about 15 minutes and I turned around to find this.......

Emma - DoDo

This actually looks much better in the picture than it did in reality.  I took a few pictures of her, but none of them did the mess on her face justice!  (And yes, before anyone asks me, I was in the drivers seat - but I only took pictures when we were stopped in traffic)

Emma's pictures should be online later this week.  I will post the link when they are available.  We ended up with indoor pictures, so I wish I had taken a different dress for her to wear - but I think we got some good shots of her.  We shall see!

Got Nothin'

I really have nothing to post about but thought I would post anyway.  Not much has really been going on in our little part of the world.  Work has been incredibly busy for me (and it doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon).  Spring has finally come and I think it is actually going to stick around this time.  The trees are all in bloom, the redbud's are beautiful!  Of course, as a result of spring and the blooming, Emma's allergies have been really bad.  Her poor little eyes are all puffy and she isn't sleeping well at all (therefore, I am not sleeping well).  Steven was finally able to get out and work in the yard yesterday afternoon.  We had some guys lined up last fall to come and take care of our leaves, but they NEVER showed up.  So needless to say after the leaves had been sitting there all winter, about half of our front yard no longer has grass.  So we will be getting some grass seed and trying to grow  grass in the shade ;-)   I am also desperate to start planting flowers.  I want flowers in with the shrubs, flowers in the cement planters and some hanging basket on the front porch and all around the back deck. Of course, first I have to find the time to go pick out the flowers, buy the flowers and then actually plant the flowers............and it is supposed to rain this week-end.

Speaking of raining this week-end.....Emma is supposed to have her pictures done Saturday morning..............outside............in a sleeveless dress!  I seriously doubt it is going to happen!  Oh, she will have her pictures taken, but they most likely will have to be done indoors.  I purposely wait until Spring to get her pictures done each year, instead of doing them around her birthday, just so we can do them outside.  Oh well............that is just way it goes when you try so hard to plan something :-)

Other than getting her pictures done and trying to get laundry caught up, we have nothing planned for the week-end.  See - I told you - I got nothin'!!!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful week-end!!!

i've been tagged.....

Brandi tagged me so here goes..

Here's how this one works...
1. The rules are posted at the beginning.
2. Each player answers the questions about themselves.
3. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves a comment, letting them know they’ve been tagged and ask them to read your blog.
What I was doing 10 years ago:
1998... Lived in an incredibly small house in Smiths Grove, KY  (only 650 sq feet), worked for The Disney Store part-time and for a local land developer part-time.  Already married (almost 4 years).  Not much really going on at that point in our lives - no kids yet - 1 dog - my husband was finally done with school (yippee).  In April of '98 a major hail storm and tornadoes came through town and damaged everyone's homes and vehicles.  Therefore, the next month, all the auto dealerships had a major "hail" of a sale and I was able to get a new vehicle :-)

Five things on my to do list for today:
1. Get through the day at work
2. Mail my Mom's birthday card (her birthday is tomorrow - oops!) - see bad habit #1
3. Go to Hobby Lobby
4. Fold Laundry - see bad habit #2
5. Hug and kiss my daughter

Things I would do if I were a billionaire:
Pay off my house... Add on to my house... Hire someone to clean my house... Quit my job!!!... Maybe open a business... Adopt a child...donate to charity... Get a makeover... Go back to Australia... Take an extended vacation...Share my newfound wealth with my friends and family!!!

Three of my bad habits:

1.Procrastinator (major one!!!) - I don't even get up in time in the morning ;-)
2. Not folding the laundry - and then once it is folded - not putting it away (I hate putting laundry away)
3.Not making the bed in the morning (of course that is hard to do with your husband still sleeping in it)

Five places I have lived:
1. Trumbull, CT
2. West Haven, CT
3. Easton, PA
4. Bowling Green, KY
5. Alvaton, KY

Five jobs I have had:
1. Office Manager @ Petty & Associates
2. Cast Member @ The Disney Store (part time position)
3. Manager @ Cato's
4. Income Manager @ Potter Children's Home

Five people I want to know more about:

1. Jill
2. Terri
3. Angie
4. Carla
5. and Joanna (maybe we can get her back into the blogging world!)

Reflection

Over the weekend we went out to eat (nothing unusual there)....as we were sitting in our booth waiting for our food, I glanced around and some of the other people and noticed a group of three at the booth next to us. There was a young woman, an older woman and an elderly gentleman. They had already finished their meal and had just received their dessert. I quickly realized that the young woman was dining with her mother and her grandfather. As they were eating their dessert I also realized that the young woman was eating the brownie, but her grandfather was eating only the ice cream. Then he started asking her about baby names. The young woman then pulls out ultrasound pics to show him (of course he has no idea what he is looking at, but he tells her that her baby blob is very pretty). She was 22 weeks along and had just found out the week before that she was having a girl.

Watching them and eavesdropping (yes, I do know that this is not polite - I just couldn't help myself) on their conversation made me think of my own grandpa. First off, this grandpa was eating only the ice cream and leaving the rest. If you were to ask anyone what my grandpa's favorite thing was - they would tell you ice cream. Secondly, my grandpa passed away when I was 22 weeks along. I had found out that I was having a girl, and we called to tell my aunt and my grandma, but grandpa was really sick by then and no one really knows if he ever understood that his first great grandchild was going to be a girl. He had been so excited about being a great grandpa. He had made Steven and I promise that we would bring the baby to see him as soon as we were able to. Traveling with a newborn did not really appeal to me - but I was going to do it for him!! I have so many wonderful memories of my grandpa (and a lot of them actually center around ice cream) :-) I remember sitting there at his funeral and crying......holding my belly......and feeling incredibly sad. Not that he was gone - I knew he was in a better place and no longer in pain - but because he was never going to get the chance to meet Emmaline.

Then when Emma was about 6 months old, my other grandfather passed away. He had never gotten to meet Emma, but he had seen lots of pictures of her and he knew exactly who she was even when he had problems remembering other people.

I have been very blessed in my life to have grown up with all 4 of my grandparents. I was 34 before Grandpa passed away. I honestly don't know many people my age who have all, if any, of their grandparents in their life. I have also been blessed to have had Christian grandparents that set a wonderful example for me. One of my Grandpa's was a deacon in the church and the other was a preacher and a missionary.

I don't think about my grandpa's very often, but watching the interaction between this young woman and her grandpa, reminded me so much of mine. When they got up to leave and she helped him out of the booth, I couldn't help but smile at her and tell her how lucky she was and to treasure every moment she had with him. She probably thought I was nuts!

So - thank you to both of my Grandpa's for the lessons you taught me and the love you gave me for 34 years! I can't wait to see you again!!

Note: I just realized that this is my 100th post!! I can hardly believe that I have done this 100 times already! Thanks for reading!!!!! :-)

S'mores

   I wish!!!!

While I was fixing dinner tonight, I noticed that our neighbor was outside burning all of the branches from that big tree that fell a few weeks ago.  Talk about a BIG fire!!!  DSC_0789 All through dinner, Steven kept talking about going out and roasting some marshmallows.   So as soon as he was done helping me get everything cleaned up, he took Miss Emma back to her room to put some warmer clothes on her and grabbed the bag of marshmallows and off they went!  DSC_0807 I immediately started searching for a Hershey's bar.............do you think I could find one??  Nope!  And the idea of marshmallows on the graham cracker alone just didn't appeal to me.  So I settled for taking my camera out there to snap some pictures instead.  DSC_0793 Emma was a little unsure at first and she never would eat a marshmallow, but she was obsessed with finding a stick and putting a marshmallow on it.

DSC_0808DSC_0797 Mack tried his best to get Emma to take a marshmallow, but she was having nothing to do with that part of this little outing.DSC_0810 DSC_0814DSC_0816 Emma finally started getting up close to roast her own marshmallow (that she wouldn't eat), but she absolutely did not like the heat on her face, so she kept putting her hand up over her face.  Let's just say, her cheeks were pretty rosy by the time we went back inside.

let's go fly a kite

Kite0013        I am not sure that spring will ever come to Kentucky and stay here, but today Steven decided he was tired of waiting.  He loves to fly kites so he quit working early, went home, got a couple of kites and went to pick up Emmaline and take her to the park.  Kite0001

Once I got off of work, I went and joined them.  It was overcast, incredibly windy (which is great if you want to fly a kite) and a bit on the chilly side (not so great if you are going to be outside).  Emma loved it!  And she only let go of the kite once!  Kite0036

After we had been out there for a little over an hour - I had had enough and declared that it was time to go home and warm up!     Kite0009Kite0039Kite0035

Of course, Emma had to stop and take the time to smell the dandelions :-)
