Here fishy fishy fishy

For a week I had been listening to Emmaline talk about nothing but going fishing. She was suddenly obsessed with it. We were going to take her to her Uncle Micheal's pond, but there was a problem with it and she would not be talked out of it. So we decided to take her to Three Springs Park.

After having a yummy picnic first, Steven brought out all the fishing gear. First she had to examine the container with the worms. It facinated her. But if you know her at all, you know that she loves worms!

Once her daddy had everything all ready, they headed off to go find the perfect spot.
I refused to bait the hook.....so that was daddy's job.

He very patiently showed her what to do and helped her. She caught on pretty quick.

And then she started to get bored...

Finally she decided it was more fun to chase the ducks than wait and try to catch a fish.
Overall, I would say that she had a great time. We will take her again, but I still won't put a worm on her hook :-)

Fourth of July

Most people would have pictures of their families all decked out in their red, white and blue. Pictures of fireworks and cookouts. Well.......I don't!

We spent the day at my BIL's house with family and friends. It rained the entire day, so we spent it indoors. Marshall (my BIL) cooked up an awesome low country boil and we sat around the kitchen and living room and ate, watched movies, played games and listened to the girls laugh all day. Leah had spent the night and so they had played until they were both exhausted and about to fall over. We got both girls in their jammies and they just loved all over each other before Leah had to go home.

Emmaline and Red. Red is getting old and Emmaline kept asking if he was going to have to go in a box like Patches did. Of course she asks me the same thing when I tell her I am old :-0

Since it rained all day and we were tired of sitting in the house.....we did what every other family in the neighborhood did.....set up the chairs in the garage and watch all the other neighbors sit in their garage!

Emma got tired of sitting and decided to go stand just outside of the garage in the rain. For some reason she thought this was funny....
This was the look on her face when she realized the rain was not only wet, but cold!

Then she realized that I was not going to make her come back in....she got really excited!

Then she decided it was the funniest thing EVER!!!

Then she said "Thanks Mom!" I LOVE this girl!!!
On Sunday after church we went to a Peruvian restaurant and then on to Jungle Jim's. We got done, got back, packed up and drove home.
It was a GREAT weekend!

Coney Island

For the 4th of July we went up to Cincinnati to spend the weekend with Steven’s brother and his family. Our great niece Leah is the same age as Emmaline and they have a BIG time together. So right after we got there, her mommy and her showed up and we all went to Coney Island for the afternoon. FUN was the word of the day!

We start off with a show….they even got to take part in it!

Showing off their armbands so they could ride ALL the rides (at least that is what Emma thought )

They went from one thing to another….and a few things twice :-)

This was one of their favorites. The “Frog Hopper”. It went up to the top and then would drop…rise again…drop…rise again…drop. They were scared to death, but LOVED every minute of it!

There was a big playground there too so they took a break from the rides and played in the fort and on the slide for a bit.

They love each other. I just thought this was too cute!

All that playing and riding was hot work….time for ice cream. Leah got what I expected….Chocolate. But Emmaline is a little different and she prefers Vanilla – or as she calls it “Va-illa”.

DSC_0425 There was another area that had all these little playhouses just their size. I think they would have moved in if we had let them.

Steven’s brother, Marshall, had as much fun as the kids did!!
