Question for Moms with Toddlers
Next week Emma and I are going to fly to Oklahoma to visit my grandmother. We will be staying in a hotel and my grandmother lives in an assisted living facility. Since we are flying this time, I will not be able to take the usual large basket of toys and DVD player and movies that I use to keep Emma occupied and out of trouble. I have the usual stuff that I take on the airplane for her (coloring book, crayons, her Color Wonder book, a couple of story books, a little etch-a-sketch.....), my first thought was to just pack a suitcase full of toys and such, but we are flying on American and they charge you for EACH bag and you check!!! I have already gotten a couple of small things to take - she has a set of small wooden letters and pictures that she loves to play with (plus this helps with letter recognition), and I just bought her a little set of princess playing cards (crazy eights and go fish). HELP!!! I need some more ideas!!!!
For those of you that have traveled with your little ones and stayed in hotels - what did you do! For those of you that haven't, what would you suggest.
THANKS!!!!

Oh, just pump her full of benedryl and she will sleep the whole time!!
I am soooo kidding! What you have is what I would suggest, I really haven't flown with Josey so don't know what to expect. Hope you get some good tips!!
We have flown with our guys a couple of times, and they did fine. We took toys, like the ones you mentioned and plenty of snacks they like. We also made sure to have some Motrin on hand just in case the ears gave us any trouble. As far as a hotel goes, thank goodness they almost always have the Disney Channel! Maybe you can go swimming? Oh, and sometime recently I saw a neat little play set that was for the car that had magnets and backgrounds all in a small metal carrying case. It was Disney Princess. Maybe you could find one of those? Have a great trip!!
PLAY DOH--that's always loads of entertainment and messy (definitely for a place other than hom =). I would also check out the Dollar Tree and pack up a sack full of goodies and use them as bribes. I TOTALLY plan on doing that with my kids for pictures next week =). Nerds take forever to eat. Go the library and pick up a bunch of new books (paperbacks). Magnetic sets and mini chalk boards are also fun.
